It’s time to get ready for the Winter Festival Parade, which will take place on Jan. 29 at noon, starting in New Hope and continuing over the bridge into Lambertville. Local businesses and organizations are invited to participate in this community event. Participation is free, and options include marching with your group, or entering a float. Indoor flea market
The New Hope Eagle Fire Company is holding its first indoor market of 2011 on Jan. 22, 8 a.m.-3 p.m., and Jan. 23, 8 a.m.-2 p.m. The firehouse is located at Route 202 and 46 N. Sugan Road, New Hope. The fire company asks a $2/person donation at the door. Children under 10 are free. The markets also will be held on Feb. 12-13 and Feb. 26-27. Saturday hours are 8 a.m.-3 p.m.; Sunday hours, 8 a.m.-2 p.m.
Library Logo Contest
The Lambertville Free Public Library announces a Library Logo Contest open to all persons 12 and older. The library has no logo and wants one that can be used on the library card, website, letterhead, advertising, etc. The person who submits the winning entry will receive $100 cash; second, $50; third and People’s Choice, $25 each. Each person may submit up to five entries. Entries should be timeless, and should include a reading/books/library or historic Lambertville/river town theme, either generic or specific to the library. Entries can be in color or black and white, hand or computer drawn. Entries will be accepted through March 31 and displayed in the Lambertville Library throughout April, with the winning design announced May 1. Dine Out on Wednesday
The Lambertville Public School PTA is continuing its Dine Out on Wednesday fundraiser. Patronize local Lambertville restaurants every Wednesday from now through the end of April, and 10 percent of the bill will be donated to the Lambertville Public School PTA. Funds will be used for events, such as field day, author visits and school assemblies that foster team spirit, creativity and knowledge. Have breakfast, lunch or dinner at Sneddon’s, Ennis, Bell’s Restaurant, Tortuga’s, Rick’s, Marhaba, Anton’s at The Swan, Lilly’s Restaurant and No. 9.
Attention: Lambertville
Dog and cat licenses are available for purchase. The fee for a spayed dog or cat is $10. Licensing of dogs and cats is a requirement of the City of Lambertville. Licensing of dogs is also a requirement of the State of New Jersey.
Parking permits for those residing on metered streets are available for purchase at City Hall. The annual fee is $45.
Landlord registration is due by March 1, 2011. All rental units must be registered with the City of Lambertville (Ordinance 2010-23). All rental properties with two or more rental units also must register with the State of New Jersey.
Bulk rate garbage permits are available for purchase at City Hall. The city can no longer accept televisions.
The Cable Television Committee needs volunteers. Submit letter of interest and resume to Mayor David Del Vecchio, City of Lambertville, 18 York St., Lambertville. One must be a resident of Lambertville to be considered for appointment.
Christmas pickup of trees, other items
Parents of sixth-grade students at the Lambertville Public School are picking up Christmas trees, wreaths, and roping to raise funds for the annual class trip to Washington, D.C. Attention: West Amwell residents
Discarded Christmas trees, stripped of all decorations, may be dropped off after the holidays at the township complex, 150 Rocktown-Lambertville Road, according to the Brush-Chipping Schedule as follows: Jan. 22 from 8 a.m.-12:30 p.m. The designated area is marked.

Baseball, softball registration
Registration for the 2011 baseball and softball season has begun. LWAYBSA reps will be at the Lambertville First Presbyterian Church every Saturday from 8:30 a.m.-2 p.m. and every Thursday from 5:30-7:30 p.m. to assist those interested. The LWAYBSA offers the following divisions: T-Ball for 5 and 6 year-olds; baseball for 7 and 8 year-olds, 9 and 10 year-olds, 11 and 12 year-olds; an expanded Senior Division for 13, 14 and 15 year-old boys; softball for first and second grades, third and fourth grades, fifth and sixth grades; and a Senior Division for girls in grades seven-12. New Hope Art League series set
The inaugural New Hope Art League Teacher/Speaker Series starts Jan. 25 at 7 p.m. at Solebury Friends Meetinghouse, 2680 N. Sugan Road, New Hope (intersection Meetinghouse Road). Artist/teacher Lauren Travis, of Doylestown, is the first speaker. She is a member of the Bucks County art community and the owner and director of Travis Gallery, New Hope, She teaches both drawing and oil painting. Predictions for new year
The New Hope Metaphysical Society will meet Jan. 26 at 7:30 p.m. at Pebble Hill Church, 320 Edison-Furlong Road, Doylestown. The theme will be "Predictions for the New Year" and will feature guest speaker, Patrick Arnone, psychic and medium from Bucks County who will offer general predictions for the year 2011, including political, social, financial and physical trends. The Hunterdon County Chamber of Commerce and the New Jersey Business and Industry Association will welcome new Hunterdon County Prosecutor Anthony P. Kearns III at the January Employer Legislative Committee Breakfast on Jan. 26 from 8-9:30 a.m. The breakfast is at Beaver Brook Country Club, Annandale. Hunterdon Behavioral Health’s School Based Youth Services will host author, Dr. Brad Sachs, who will speak on information from his book, "The Good Enough Teen – Raising Adolescents with Love and Acceptance Despite How Impossible They Can Be." Arts festival set
South Hunterdon Regional High School will hold its second annual Festival of the Arts on Jan. 28 from 6-9 p.m. in the school auditorium. Music department benefit slated
The Philly Big Band will perform Jan. 29 at the Eagle Fire House, 46 N. Sugan Road, New Hope. The Philly Big Band is one of the newest big bands to hit the Philadelphia Jazz scene. The repertoire includes new compositions and arrangements written for Matt Gallagher. The band will also feature some of the big band pieces including Maynard Ferguson, Stan Kenton and Count Basie. The night will feature the vocal talents of Nicole Tranquillo. Mr. Gallagher has established himself as one of the premier lead trumpet players in the Philadelphia area. He is the lead trumpet player with the Lars Halle Jazz Orchestra. Also appearing will be the New Hope-Solebury High School Jazz Ensemble. Seating is limited. Economic Forecast event set Feb. 1

Civil War session
The Gen. G.W. Taylor Civil War Round Table, a discussion and study group for those interested in the American Civil War, will meet on Feb. 1 at the Red Mill Museum Village, 56 Main St., Clinton, at 7 p.m. in the upstairs meeting room.
