The new Chesterfield Elementary School dedication and ribbon cutting will be held Saturday, Jan. 22 at 10 am in the cafetorium of the new school. All community residents are invited to attend the program followed by a tour of the building. The new 115,776-square-foot school opened with 552 preschool through sixth-grade students on Jan. 5. Highlights of the new school include a new gymnasium and cafetorium, geothermal heating and air conditioning, solar panels, 54 classrooms with state of the art technology.
Museum tour
The Delaware & Raritan Canal Watch is holding a special tour of the Roebling Museum, located in Roebling, 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 22.The museum is located in the former main gate building of the Roebling Kinkora Works. In the steel mill’s prime, thousands of workers passed through its portal each day on their way to the massive mill that produced the wire for the Golden Gate Bridge, the George Washington Bridge and the elevators of the Empire State Building. The museum collections include objects and documents salvaged from the plant or donated privately. In addition, there is an introductory video and an overview of the history of the company and the Roebling family, including John A Roebling, designer and chief engineer of the Brooklyn Bridge. Pre-registration is necessary for this special visit and must be confirmed because of attendance requirements. Basket bingo
The New Egypt American Legion Auxiliary is sponsoring a Longerger basket bingo Saturday, Jan. 22, at the Legion Post 455 Hall, 2 Meadowbrook Drive and Route 528, New Egypt. Doors open at 11 a.m. and games begin at 1 p.m. Cost is $25 to enter, which includes game boards. The kitchen will be open and serving food. Players must be 18 years or older to enter. Blood drive
The American Red Cross and the North Hanover Events Committee would like to remind all that blood supply is very low. Have a heart this Valentine’s Day and give the gift of life.
