SOMERVILLE – Two guest speakers will offer presentations at the Somerset County Energy Council’s annual reorganization meeting Tuesday, Jan. 25.
The meeting will be held at 5:30 p.m. in a second-floor conference room at the county Administration Building at 20 Grove St.
Architect Elizabeth Ackerman, a member of the U.S. Green Building Council New Jersey, will discuss the use of LEED Neighborhood Development, a national standard for green neighborhood design, to obtain sustainable growth.
LEED ND recognizes the value of development projects that protect and enhance the natural environment and the quality of life of communities.
The executive director of the U.S. Green Building Council New Jersey, Florence Block, will review the council’s strategic goals based on its 2009-13 business plan and discuss ways communities and counties can help shape a greener future.
Also during the meeting, William Amann, president of M&E Engineering Inc. in Somerville, will be reappointed as chairman of the council. Also, a new member, Randolph Haviland from Somerset, will join the 10-person council.
Established in 2008, the council advises the Board of Chosen Freeholders, advocates for energy efficiency and conservation and promotes public awareness of energy opportunities.
