East Windsor’s Signorin is SEC Frosh of Week

After swimming three collegiate-best times against four Top-25 teams this past weekend at the SMU Classic in Dallas, University of Florida swimmer Connor Signorin was named Southeastern Conference Male Freshman of the Week, announced by the league Tuesday.
Signorin, an East Windsor resident whose aunt, Pam Owens, is the Robbinsville head swim coach, is the first Gator to win the award since redshirt sophomore Marco Loughran (London, England) took home the honor on Jan. 12, 2010.
Signorin finished the Dallas meet with collegiate bests in the 100-yard backstroke (51.04), 200 back (1:49.56) and 400-yard individual medley (3:53.03). His time in the 400 IM was the first NCAA "B" cut of his career in the event, while ranking as the second-fastest time (seventh overall) this season by a SEC freshman in the race. The Peddie graduate’s time in the 200 back was also the second-fastest by a SEC freshman this season.
Additionally, Signorin teamed up with a trio of teammates to capture the 800-yard freestyle relay with a NCAA qualifying mark of 6:34.79.For the season, Signorin owns the fastest times by a UF freshman in the 200-yard freestyle (1:40.24), 500 free (4:26.17, NCAA "B" cut), 1,000 free (9:13.90), 1,650 free (15:29.24, NCAA "B" cut), 100 back (51.04), 200 back (1:49.56), 200 IM (1:50.92) and 400 IM (3:53.03, NCAA "B" cut).Signorin and the rest of the Gators jump back into the pool today (Friday), as they travel to Auburn for their first road trip of the New Year.
