The Northern Burlington boys indoor track and field team earned two points for their fifth place finish in the Group II high jump on Sunday. Melvin Moore cleared 5-feet-10 and Preston Towns cleared 5-8 for the Greyhounds. Both are juniors who did not compete in the Group II relays high jump last year.
Mark Jones and Kyle Fitts combined to jump 12-feet for the win with Jones clearing 7-feet.
The Northern Burlington boys basketball team dropped a 59-41 decision to Burlington Township despite 15 points from Alex Irvin and 10 from Fred Young. The loss dropped NB to 4-6 on the season. Two days earlier the Greyhounds topped Delran, 52-48, as Irvin led the way with 15 points. Mike Kodia and Joey Montalvo added 10 points apiece in the win.
The Northern Burlington girls basketball team pulled out a dramatic win on Saturday when Drina Thornton scored off a long pass from Jacquie Laurenti with two seconds left to top Burlington Township, 45-43. The Greyhounds rallied from seven points down in the fourth quarter to pull out the win. Thornton finished with 15 points and 13 rebounds, her second double-double of the year. Laurenti added 14 points, while Marissa Rivera had eight points and 14 rebounds to help the Greyhounds improve to 4-6.
The Northern Burlington wrestling team topped Egg Harbor, 41-29, last Friday night falling to Cherokee and Collingswood on Saturday. In the win over Egg Harbor, Harbinder Singh, Wayne Stinson, Harley Palyok and Billy Stout each recorded a win by win for the Greyhounds. Stinson and Singh each had a pin in a 35-30 loss to Cherokee. In a 43-23 loss to Collingswood, Evan Million and Palyok both had pins.
