The mayors of Lambertville and West Amwell recently announced additional appointments to several commissions and committees, but there are still seats open if citizens are interested in volunteering to serve.
In Lambertville, Mayor David Del Vecchio has appointed Gina Fischetti to serve on the Environmental Commission. “I think she’ll be a great addition,” he said.
Ms. Fischetti, of Buttonwood Street, is an attorney employed by the state of New Jersey with the Department of Community Affairs. She is an official with the American Institute of Certified Planners, and also is a court-approved mediator for civil, general equity and probate.
She is a 2003 graduate of Rutgers School of Law-Newark, and Rutgers’ Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy. She has volunteered her time with SEE Lambertville, an environmental group that promotes sustainability. With SEE, she assisted with the creation of the Learning Garden at the Lambertville Public School, the city’s acting clerk, Cynthia Ege, said.
The city has two vacancies on the Cable Television Advisory Committee, and one vacancy for the second alternate on the Lambertville Municipal Utilities Authority.
Interested citizens should submit a letter of interest and a resume to Mayor David Del Vecchio, City of Lambertville, 18 York St., Lambertville, 08530.
IN WEST AMWELL, Mayor Thomas Molnar has appointed Judy O’Brien to an unexpired term on the Open Space Committee. She will serve until Dec. 31, 2012.
Ms. O’Brien’s appointment fills one of two vacancies that were created by Cathy Urbanski’s and Glenn Baran’s resignations from the Open Space Committee, township Clerk Lora Olsen said.
Mayor Molnar also appointed Karen Baldino and Becky Smith-Casey to the Environmental Commission. Ms. Baldino is the first alternate. Ms. Smith-Casey is the second alternate.
Ms. Baldino retired as the chief financial officer of Robbinsville before becoming Lambertville’s director of finance for about a year, ending in May 2010. She is a member of West Amwell’s COAH Committee, and a former member of the Farmers Market Committee.
Ms. Smith-Casey is an attorney.
In addition to the vacancy on the Open Space Committee, there also is a vacancy on the Environmental Commission. The vacancy was created when Robert Tomenchok resigned to accept an appointment to the township’s Planning Board. Regulations permit only one member of the Environmental Commission to serve on the board, and Joan Van der Veen holds that spot.
Citizens interested in volunteering must file a one-page Citizen Leadership Form with the municipal clerk.
