Rabies clinic

Saturday, Jan. 22 – The Hillsborough Township Health Department is sponsoring the 2011 free rabies vaccination clinic for dogs and cats from 10 a.m. to noon at the Public Works Garage, 21 East Mountain Road.
The clinic is open to all Hillsborough Township and Millstone Borough residents and is free of charge. If your pet is 3 months of age or older, has never had a rabies vaccination or is due for a booster from its previous one- or three-year vaccination, then your pet is eligible to receive the shot. By law, all dogs and cats must be vaccinated against rabies in both Hillsborough and Millstone.
All dogs should be on a leash and cats in a carrier. Dogs and cats will be vaccinated in separate lines.

Free-throw contest
Sunday, Jan. 23 – The Knights of Columbus will hold a basketball free-throw contest from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Christ the King School in Manville.
The contest is open to anyone ages 10 to 14. All participants will receive a T-shirt and certificate as well as a chance to advance to the state finals.
Health fair
Sunday, Jan. 23 – Free, basic health information, flu shots and health screenings will be available at the second annual Community Health Fair from 1 to 4 p.m. at the United Reformed Church, 100 W. Main St., Somerville. Admission is free.
In the event of snow, the health fair will be postponed to Sunday, Jan. 30. If the event has to be postponed because of the weather, the church will have a message on its phone – 908-125-4545.
This event is being sponsored by Temple Beth-El, 67 Route 206, Hillsborough, in partnership with the United Reformed Church to improve the quality of life in Somerset County.
The health fair will feature basic health screenings and will offer attendees the opportunity to talk to doctors and specialists about a broad array of health concerns, and obtain information about local health resources that are available to help families and individuals in Somerset County.

School board
Monday, Jan. 24 – Hillsborough Board of Education will hold a regular meeting at 7:30 p.m. in the Auten Road Intermediate School cafetorium.
Lady Raiders pink basketball
Tuesday, Jan. 25 – The second annual Lady Raiders Pink Basketball Game, featuring Hillsborough High School vs. Franklin High School, will be held at HHS, and donations will be accepted to benefit the Susan G. Komen breast cancer foundation.
Game times are: freshman, 3:45 p.m.; junior varsity, 5:15 p.m.; and varsity, 7 p.m. There will be a donation box at each game, along with a 50/50 during the varsity game. Spectators are encouraged to wear pink.
Township Committee
Tuesday, Jan. 25 – Hillsborough Township Committee will meet at 7:30 p.m. in the municipal building courtroom, 379 South Branch Road.
Garden club
Thursday, Jan. 27 – The Neshanic Garden Club will hold its monthly meeting at 10 a.m. at the Station House on Olive Street in Neshanic Station.
Walter Choroszewski, renowned photographer and lecturer, will present "The Great Tree Adventure." Also, club member Jeannie Geremia will speak about the New Jersey State Flower Show.
A light luncheon will be served before the program. Members are asked to "lug a mug" to help protect the environment. Prospective members are encouraged to attend.

HHS robotics fundraiser
Saturday, Jan. 29 – The Hillsborough High School robotics team will host an all-you-can-eat pasta dinner from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Hillsborough Municipal Building, 379 South Branch Road. Takeout will be available.
The cost will be $10 for adults, $7 for seniors and $5 for children. All proceeds support HHS Robotics.
Church dinner
Saturday, Jan. 29 – A spaghetti and meatball dinner and bake sale will be held from 4:30 to 7 p.m. at the South Branch Reformed Church, 870 River Road, Hillsborough.
To reserve tickets in advance, call 369-4956. Adults, $9; children 6-12, $4; and children 5 and under, free. Take-outs available.
Camp open house
Sunday, Jan. 30 – The Somerset Valley YMCA will host a Camp Open House from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at each branch – Bridgewater, Hillsborough and Somerville.

HHS baseball fundraiser
Sunday, Feb. 6 – The Hillsborough High School baseball team will hold its annual all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Hillsborough Municipal Building, 379 South Branch Road.
Menu includes pancakes, eggs, sausage, bagels and doughnuts. Cost is $7 for adults and $5 for children and senior citizens.
Continuing events
Project Graduation dress collection – Project Graduation of Hillsborough High School is collecting new and gently used prom and eveningwear (juniors and woman’s, short and long dresses) for a sale to be held at HHS on March 5, 2011. Have the dress clean and on a hanger.
