By Rebecca Kelly
The Arts Council of Princeton presents Raw Beauty: An Exhibition of Sculpture from January 8 n February 26, 2011 at the Paul Robeson Center for the Arts, 102 Witherspoon Street, Princeton, NJ (across from the Princeton Public Library).
A gallery talk is scheduled for Thursday, January 20th, 2011 from 5-6:30 p.m.
Raw Beauty, organized by guest curator Rebecca Kelly, includes the work of the following eight sculptors: Carol Cole, Hannah Fink, Lesley Haas, Elizabeth Mackie, Donna M. McCullough, Leslie Pontz, Miriam Schaer, and Leo Sewell. In creating their work, these artists employ such diverse skills as embroidery, stitching and crocheting, as well as welding and riveting. These techniques have been used to create objects that communicate each artist’s thoughts and feelings about the primitive strengths and imperfections of the female spirit.
