Reid Sound, Inc. Announces Scholarship For NJ High School Students

By Darren R. Sussman
Reid Sound, Inc., which provides audio/visual support for corporate meetings, graduations, musical, concerts and other special events, has established a scholarship award to assist New Jersey high school students in furthering their studies in the technical aspects of theater, the company announced today.
“It’s long been my desire to do something more than just offer advice to the students who work behind the scenes and often are given little credit,” says Reid founder and president Darren R. Sussman.  “Now, thanks to our outstanding clients, I am proud to announce the Reid Sound Scholarship for Theatrical Technicians.”
The scholarship is a one thousand dollar award that will be presented to a New Jersey high school senior who shows exemplary skill and dedication to the art of technical theater, and who plans to pursue a technical theater major at a four-year college, and can include sound, lighting, costume or set design, stage management or running crew.
“Ever since I began my career in professional audio/visual arts, it’s been a pleasure to work with so many talented students each year. February through May, the time to which we refer as ‘Musical Season,’ has always been one of my favorite times of the year. Despite the long hours, hard work, and lack of sleep, it is always exciting to work with students who are discovering something that I fell in love with a long time ago,” Sussman concludes.
Applications are currently being accepted and the award winner will be notified in early June. For more information or to apply, please visit www.reidsound.com or call 609.259.9495.
