BORDENTOWN TOWNSIP: Ground broken on $40M Team Campus project

BORDENTOWN TOWNSHIP — K. Johnson Enterprises broke ground Tuesday for its Team Campus site on Route 130 at the Old Agway site.
”This project is a very ambitious, lucrative project and one that will likely change the landscape in Bordentown Township for decades to come,” Committeeman Jason Medina said.
”It’s an estimated $40 million project. It’s going to bring hundreds of jobs to Bordentown Township,” he said.
The Team Campus developers expect the site to be completed sometime in 2012. K. Johnson Enterprises, the developer of the Team Campus site, was granted final site approval in 2008 by the township’s Redevelopment Committee.
Team Campus will consist of a St. Francis outpatient center, a three-story office building, two two-story office buildings, a single-story pad site and a two-story fitness center with an indoor turf practice field.
St. Francis Medical Center of Trenton announced plans to open an outpatient center on the site on Nov. 23 at the Bordentown and Greater Hamilton Chapter of the Chamber of Commerce luncheon.
”This new facility marks an expansion effort by the Medical Center in response to the health needs of the community,” according to a press release. “Ambulatory surgery, radiation, oncology, renal dialysis, would care and hyperbaric treatment, cardiac diagnostics, urgent care, imaging and physician offices will be considered for this project.”
Mayor Michael Dauber said the township fully supports the project and St. Francis and looks forward to St. Francis coming to the township.
Deputy Mayor Karl Feltes said he things the project will have a major impact on Bordentown Township.
”It’s an area in Bordentown Township that’s a corridor area, with the anchor of St. Francis that will probably open up a lot of opportunities for associated structures,” he said. “We have an opportunity, along with the people that will be present at the groundbreaking, to put Bordentown in a good light. It also shows that Bordentown Township is open to development.
   K. Johnson Enterprises is headed by former NFL wide receiver Kevin Johnson, a Trenton native. Mr. Johnson played football at Syracuse University and then played five seasons with the Cleveland Browns. He also played for the Jacksonville Jaguars, Baltimore Ravens and Detroit Lions.
The Team85 Fitness Center is named in honor of Mr. Johnson’s jersey number and will offer “the most comprehensive full service fitness and wellness complex in the area, offering 101,000 square feet of amenities,” according to its website.
The Team Campus developers expect site to be completed sometime in 2012.
