Kindergarten registration for Valley schools under way

By: centraljersey.com
Kindergarten registration for the 2011-12 school year is underway and will end April 1 for parents of children anticipating entering kindergarten in the Hopewell Valley Regional School District next fall. (Children must be 5 years old on or before Oct. 1, 2011.)
Registration forms will be available online through the district website. Go to www.hvrsd.org and click on the ‘Registrar’ link located under the Offices heading. Print and follow the directions for completing the forms. If you don’t have Internet access, the Registrar’s Office can supply you with the appropriate forms.
After completing the forms, call and make an appointment with the Registrar’s Office at 737-4002, ext. 2304. Bring these forms as well as an original birth certificate with a raised seal (or a copy with a raised seal) and proof of residency to your appointment. Acceptable proofs of residency include a deed, lease showing signatures of both parties (dated for current school year), signed sales contract with street address, or settlement statement. We will also accept a current tax bill with a valid NJ driver’s license. Both the tax bill and license must have matching addresses. Upon completion of this process, you will receive a packet of information regarding the school district as well as additional reading material.
School visits will be held at the four elementary schools on the following dates: Bear Tavern, April 18-21; Toll Gate Grammar, April 12-14; Hopewell Elementary, April 18-22; and Stony Brook Elementary, April 12-15.
Appointments must be made for the school visits when registering and will be given on a first-come, first-served basis.
The district will continue to offer the kindergarten extension program at each elementary school. The tuition rate for this program will be $400 a month. The first 10 slots in each school will be offered on a first-come, first-placed basis, the remaining eight slots will be filled via lottery if the program is oversubscribed.
For additional information, see the brochure which is available on the district website.
