How will redistricting affect political power in New Jersey? And what will it mean to you personally?
On Feb. 15, four local Leagues of Women Voters will explore the many faces of redistricting and the shift in political power from the northeast part of the state to the central and south.
Three speakers will explore this topic in a two-hour program that is free and open to the public.
The forum will begin at 7 p.m. at Educational Testing Service , Chauncey Conference Center, 660 Rosedale Road, Princeton.
Demographer Len Preston, chief of Labor Market Information in the NJ Department of Labor & Workforce Development’s State Data Center, will lead off the dialogue by looking at population changes within the state.
Author Benjamin Brickner, who has researched and studied redistricting in Iowa, Arizona and California, will follow up with a review of the redistricting process in New Jersey.
Finally, Princeton resident Ingrid Reed, former director of the New Jersey Project at Rutgers’ Eagleton Institute of Politics, will tie it all together and lead a discussion on the statewide process and what redistricting will mean to you.
Time will be provided for questions from the audience.
The forum is being co-sponsored by the Leagues of Hopewell Valley, Lawrence Township, Princeton Area, and Hightstown-East Windsor.
In case of inclement weather, the program will be canceled.
