Runyan gets chairmanship

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Jon Runyan, NJ-3rd, has been named chairman of the House Committee on Veterans Affairs Subcommittee on Disability Assistance and Memorial Affairs for the 112th Congress. The subcommittee oversees and has investigative jurisdiction over a broad range of issues impacting veterans’ compensation, pension benefits, and cemeteries.
"New Jersey’s 3rd Congressional District is home to over 65,000 veterans and their families, and I am grateful for their service and sacrifice," said Mr. Runyan. "I am pleased to have the opportunity to honor them through my service on the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs and to lead the Disability Assistance and Memorial Affairs subcommittee to help improve benefits and services for our nation’s veterans."
Walt Tafe, director of the Burlington County Veterans Services said, "We are extremely pleased to hear that Congressman Runyan has been named chairman of the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs Subcommittee on Disability Assistance and Memorial Affairs for the 112th Congress.
"Burlington County has over 39,000 veterans, and was awarded $10 million in veterans’ disability claims in 2010."
Congressman Runyan will also serve on the House Veterans Affairs Subcommittee on Health.
