BRIDGEWATER – Raritan Valley Community College, in affiliation with the New Jersey Independent Electrical Contractors Association, is offering an electrical apprentice program in September.
The program follows the National Electrical Apprenticeship curriculum.
Classes for the noncredit, National Electrical Apprenticeship curriculum will be held at the college campus at 14 Vogt Drive. Financial aid is available for those who qualify.
The NJIEC is the association for electrical and systems contractors. The apprenticeship/curriculum is an approved standard recognized by the U.S. Department of Labor’s Bureau of Apprenticeship & Training.
The 600-hour program features a four-year course of instruction and field study designed to produce technically competent professional electricians with Journeyman status or its equivalency. It is geared for students planning a career in the electrical trades or those who want further expertise in the commercial, industrial or residential electrical fields.
Each course includes 75 hours of instruction combined with an electrical apprenticeship component.
The apprenticeship training is a form of education that incorporates workplace training with technical in-school training. Coursework and instruction reflect state-specific regulations and standards set by electrical contractors.
