Max Alton exploded for 29 points but couldn’t save Hopewell from a 57-47 loss to Trenton Friday. James Harrity added seven and John Croak six for the Bulldogs.
Alton kept up his hot pace with 24 points in Tuesday’s 62-50 win over Allentown, which raised the Bulldogs record to 6-8. Harrity added 15 and Austin Fellows and Tyler Bell had eight each. GIRLS BASKETBALL
Sarah Gronet had nine points and Emily Sing seven in Hopewell’s 47-24 loss to Trenton. Kelly Williams scored 13 while Danielle Stout had eight in the Bulldogs 43-24 win over Allentown Tuesday. League-leading HoVal improved to 10-4 and 7-3 in the Patriot Division. WRESTLING
The Bulldogs stayed perfect in the CVC with a 54-15 win over Trenton on Saturday as pins came from Jackson Place (103), John deDufour (119), Chris Kalwa (140), Eric Barbera (145), Adam Ames (189), Mike Markulec (215) and Zach Ortman (hwt), a technical fall from Jeff Mulford (135), a major decision from Brendan Murphy (112) and a decision from Evan Carlton (160).
Hopewell fell to North Hunterdon in the same meet, 51-10, as deDufour won by major and Mulford and Kalwa won decisions.Last Wednesday the Bulldogs took a 58-12 win over Notre Dame as Murphy, deDufour, Dylan Kalwa (140), Anthony DeClerico (130), Mulford, Barbera and Markulec pinned, Place won a major decision, and Kalwa and Sean Kent (152) won decisions. Max Daley had a goal and four assists in Hopewell’s 10-0 win over Lawrence last Wednesday, while Cam Bregenzer had two goals and two assists while Mike Devaney and Matt Apgar added two goals. Also getting one past the goalie were Randy Donovan, Taggart Whittaker and Andrew Siddal. Picking up assists were Scott Muhlstein, Will Fortune, Spencer Needham, Trevor Weidman and Ian McQueary. Grant Mitchell had seven saves and Ben Feder 3 for the shutout.
Daley had two goals and an assist in Monday’s 5-0 win over Notre Dame as the Bulldogs improved to 10-1-1. Matt Apgar added a goal and an assist, Devaney and Weidman added goals and Gabe DeLisa and Owen Salmon had assists. Mitchell had 17 saves for another shutout. BOYS SWIMMING
The Bulldogs rolled past Ewing, 117-47, Tuesday, getting four wins each from Jeffrey Franz (200 medley relay, 50 free, 200 free relay, 100 breast) and Chris Landis (200 MR, 100 free, 100 back, 400 free relay). Ethan Hatke was a triple winner in the 200 IM, 200 free relay and 400 free relay, Justin Voelzke and Steven Millner each were in the 200 and 400 free relays, Greg Miele won the 500 freestyle.
Other top-three finishers included Eric Tatur, Oliver Stratton, Sam Stuhler, Evan Cignarella and Shane Moore. GIRLS SWIMMING
HoVal topped Ewing, 120-50, as Eleanor Turi (200 and 100 freestyles, 400 free relay), Shreya Rane (200 medley relay, 500 free, 200 free relay) were triple winners, while two-time winners included Paige Anderson (100 back, 200 free relay), Lexi Hammett (200 MR, 200 FR), Courtney Youse (200 medley relay, 200 free relay) and Joy Frederich (200 IM, 400 free relay).
Also getting firsts were Mimi Concannon (200 MR), Carly Bornmann (100 fly), Victoria Buck and Hannah Solomon. Other top-three finishers were Anshu Sinha, Katherine McCabe, Alex Maldari, Liz Hansen and Jillian Rusnake. BOYS TRACK & FIELD
Zander Filepas jumped 41-1 in the triple jump at Saturday’s Lavino Relays, which qualified him for the Eastern Meet. Filepas also had a 10-6 pole vault.
