West Amwell and Lambertville
West Amwell Township police reported:
— On Jan. 12 at 5:55 a.m., police investigated a one-vehicle crash on Route 31 just south of Linvale-Harbourton Road (Route 579). Merri Whited, 49, of Ringoes, was driving south when she encountered a State Department of Transportation plow/dump truck backing up in the roadway. She swerved to avoid striking the truck, lost control on the snow-covered surface, left the roadway and hit a snow bank. The vehicle was towed from the scene. No summonses were issued by investigating Patrolman Edward Skillman.
— On Jan. 12 at 8:30 a.m., police investigated a one-vehicle crash on Linvale-Harbourton Road (Route 579) just south of Route 31. James Simmons, 77, of Hopewell Township, was driving north and rounding a curve when he lost control due to slushy snow conditions on the roadway, crossed into the southbound lane striking several mailboxes and came to rest in a ditch. No injuries were reported, Amwell Valley Fire and Rescue, along with the Ambulance Corps. responded. The vehicle sustained heavy damage and was towed from the scene. No summonses were issued by investigating Patrolman Dennis Kendig.
— On Jan. 13 at 10:43 a.m., police investigated a minor one-vehicle crash on Brunswick Pike (Route 518) near Corsalo Road. Robert Hunter, 62, of Mario, S.C., was attempting to turn his vehicle around, by backing into in a private drive, and struck a tree. He was operating a 2002 International Tractor towing a box trailer. No injuries were reported. No summonses were issued by investigating Patrolman Skillman.
— On Jan. 14 at 8 a.m., police began an investigation into a theft by deception involving the sale of scrap metal. Ronald Tillet Jr. of Jackson Street, reported that an unknown person, described as a 50-60-year-old Hispanic man, operating a white Chevrolet pickup, purchased items of scrap metal with an agreed price of $500. The man paid Mr. Tillett $400, due to lack of immediate funding and agreed to return with the additional $100. Patrolman Skillman is investigating.
— On Jan. 14 at noon, police began an investigation into a theft that occurred at a residence on Surrey Lane. Richard Rutkowski reported that U.S. mint gold coins, one bar of silver, a silver belt, silver dinnerware and Lenox dinnerware plates (total worth, $5,000) were missing. Initial investigation determined that the items had been taken between November 2010 and the date the theft was reported. Police believe the theft was orchestrated by individual(s) who knew the victim and had access to the residence. It was not determined to be a burglary. Patrolman Skillman is investigating.
— On Jan. 16 at 2:30 a.m., police investigated a one-vehicle crash on Lakeview Road near Rocktown Lambertville Road. Julian Stone, 18, of New Hope, Pa., lost control of his vehicle as he was driving south around a curve. He hit an embankment. No injuries were listed on the report. The vehicle sustained heavy damage and was towed from the crash scene. Investigating Patrolman Kendig issued a summons to Mr. Stone for careless driving, leaving the scene and failure to report a motor vehicle crash.
Lambertville police reported:
— Guy Watson, 52, of Lambertville, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia on Jan. 14. Officer Michael Miloszar was called to the Little Haven assisted living home after getting a report about a resident suspected to be in possession of possible CDS. Mr. Watson was allegedly found to be in possession of four crack pipes and was subsequently charged with four counts of possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released with a pending court date.
— Everett Rose, 55, of Lambertville, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia after he was taken into custody on Jan. 15 for an outstanding warrant. Officer Miloszar stopped a vehicle of Bridge Street at noon, after it was observed to have an inoperable brake light. The passenger, Mr. Rose, was found to have an outstanding warrant issued by Mercer County, for non-payment of child support. While being taken into custody, Mr. Rose allegedly was found to be in possession of a glassine bag containing suspected cocaine residue. Mr. Rose was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and later turned over to the Mercer County sheriff’s department in lieu of $3,400.
— Kenneth Kolano, 33, of Lambertville, was taken into custody for DUI Jan. 15. Sgt. Robert Brown stopped Mr. Kolano on North Main Street at 2:10 a.m. after he was seen driving erratically. Mr. Kolano was determined to be driving under the influence of alcohol and was charged with DUI, failure to keep right and careless driving. He was later released with a pending court date.
— Lisa Perosi, 26, of Lambertville, was taken into custody for DUI as a result of a motor vehicle stop Jan. 15. Officer Michael Gramlich stopped Ms. Perosi on Phillips Barber Road at 2:12 a.m. after she was allegedly observed driving erratically. Ms. Perosi was determined to be under the influence of alcohol and was charged with DUI, reckless driving, failure to keep right and failure to inspect. She was later released with a pending court date.
— Kenneth Bacorn, 46, of Lambertville, was taken into custody on an outstanding warrant on Jan. 16. Officer Gramlich stopped Mr. Bacorn on Jefferson Road at 12:15 a.m. after a check of his registration revealed there was a warrant for his arrest for failure to appear in Hopewell Township on traffic charges. Mr. Bacorn was released after posting $240 bail.
