PLUMSTED – The Plumsted Senior Outreach Services (SOS) is looking for volunteers to assist with its mission of assisting senior citizens.
Many of the services are provided for free and include: information and referrals, transportation for medical appointments and shopping, health programs and screenings, a "Move Today" exercise program, mind aerobics program, Project Lifesaver, various activities, socials, bus trips and a monthly "Live and Learn" day.
All of the services offered are provided by volunteers. The organization receives in-kind donations and support from Plumsted Township and its officials, a grant from the Ocean County Office of Senior Services and donations.
The full volunteer committee meets once a month at the senior meeting room in the Plumsted Municipal Building. Volunteers do not need to be seniors, but do need to be available during weekdays. Volunteers have a choice between being a full voting member of the committee or a limited, non-voting member who provides services.
Volunteer opportunities include: working on the budget/finance committee, games of chance/fundraising committee, programs committee or transportation.
