BASKING RIDGE – The Somerset County Park Commission Environmental Education Center at 190 Lord Stirling Road has scheduled naturalist-led programs for children and adults.
The Environmental Education Center provides many educational programs for children and adults year around.
Registration is required for programs and may be done by calling 908-766-2489 or NJ Relay at 711 for individuals with a hearing or speech impairment. Registration is available online at www.somersetcountyparks.org.
Camp We Hike It – Sunday, Jan. 30, from 1 to 3 p.m.
Children ages 7 to 9 will explore the Great Swamp with a naturalist and get involved in games, activities and some education. The theme is "Swamp Scout." The cost is $12 per person.
Nature Through a Child’s Eye – Daily through Sunday, Feb. 13, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. except holidays.
The entire family can see the annual environment and nature art show featuring works from children from kindergarten through grade six in Somerset County schools. Admission is free.
Critters in Crisis – Saturday, Jan. 29, from 2 to 3 p.m.
Family and friends will learn about the challenges that face the flora and fauna we see every day. The theme is "Holy White Nose Syndrome, Batgirl." The program is free.
