PRINCETON: A&B sets 30th annual Longbeard Contest

Phase 1 of the Alchemist & Barrister’s legendary St. Patrick’s Day Party & Longbeard Contest gets under way Feb. 1-3 with registration for the annual beard-growing competition.
Now in its 30th year, the Longbeard Contest lets local gentlemen give back to the community by competing for the title of Longbeard Champion. Men register, clean shaven, at the A&B, and make a donation to charity. This year’s beneficiary will be announced shortly.
Contestants’ beards will be measured March 17 during the A&B’s spectacular St. Patrick’s Day Celebration.
“The man who grows the longest beard will be declared the winner and have bragging rights for the coming year,” says A&B’s manager Tom Yermack, himself a three- time champ. Prizes will also be given for the shortest, grayest, reddest, ugliest, handsomest and most creative beards.
Leading up to the big day, every Tuesday from Feb. 1 to March 17, guest bartenders will mix Celtic cocktails and Irish specialties from the kitchen of Executive Chef Art Kukoda will be on the menu.
On St. Patrick’s Day, Irish spirit and spirits will prevail, with bagpipers, traditional Irish music and dancing and the best in Irish food and drink.
For reservations in the dining room, call 609-924-5555. The Alchemist & Barrister (The ‘Cheers’ of Princeton) is located at 28 Witherspoon St., Princeton.
