Kindergarten registration packets for the 2011-12 school year are available for parents of children anticipating entering kindergarten in the Lambertville Public School next fall. Children who will be 5 on or before Oct. 1, 2011, are eligible. Kindergarten packets may be picked up in person from the main office of the school, 200 N. Main St., Lambertville, from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Information will be mailed upon request to parents phoning 397-0183 during the same hours. Schedule a screening appointment to be held on March 2 and March 3.
West Amwell Elementary registration
West Amwell Elementary School will hold registration for children who will be 5 on or before Oct. 1, 2011, at the West Amwell School on April 26 and 27. Kindergarten students for this September must be registered by April 1. The only registrations permitted after April 1 are for students just moving into the district (proof of new residency must be provided).
Each child should have the following and proof thereof before he/she may enter school in September: Hepatitis B vaccine, three dose series; Diptheria-Tetanus-Pertusis (DTP), four doses plus booster after fourth birthday; Polio series plus booster after fourth birthday; two Measles-Mumps-Rubella (MMR) combination shots are required by law; Varicella vaccine, one dose; physical examination and birth certificate. No immunizations or physicals will be given at kindergarten registration.

Pancake Breakfast
An all-you-can-eat Valentines Pancake Breakfast will be held Feb. 13 from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. at the West Amwell Fire House, Mt. Airy Village Road. Children 4 and under are free. The event benefits the West Amwell Elementary School sixth-grade trip to Washington, D.C.
Gallery sale benefits food pantry
River Queen Artisans Gallery, 8 Church St., Lambertville, is donating 10 percent of the sale of selected items to the Food Pantry at Saint John’s Church on Feb. 12. The gallery will be open until 8 p.m. From 6-8 p.m., there will be live music, wine and light refreshments. In addition to helping the Food Pantry, the gallery will have special items artists have created for Valentine’s Day. Library Logo Contest
The Lambertville Free Public Library announces a Library Logo Contest open to all persons 12 and older. The library has no logo and wants one that can be used on the library card, website, letterhead, advertising, etc. The person who submits the winning entry will receive $100 cash; second, $50; third and People’s Choice, $25 each. Each person may submit up to five entries. Entries should be timeless, and should include a reading/books/library or historic Lambertville/river town theme, either generic or specific to the library. Entries can be in color or black and white, hand or computer drawn. Entries will be accepted through March 31 and displayed in the Lambertville Library throughout April, with the winning design announced May 1. Brunch trains
The "Sunday Brunch Trains" are available at the New Hope & Ivyland Railroad, 32 W. Bridge St., New Hope. Brunch Trains return to the New Hope and Ivyland Railroad on select Sundays through Nov. 20. These excursions are for select Sundays only. The train is available for boarding at 10:30 a.m. Brunch continues with departure from the New Hope station at 11 a.m., followed by a 45-minute train ride through the Bucks County countryside. Dog and cat licenses are available for purchase. The fee for a spayed dog or cat is $10. Licensing of dogs and cats is a requirement of the City of Lambertville. Licensing of dogs is also a requirement of the State of New Jersey.
Parking permits for those residing on metered streets are available for purchase at City Hall. The annual fee is $45.
Landlord registration is due by March 1, 2011. All rental units must be registered with the City of Lambertville (Ordinance 2010-23). All rental properties with two or more rental units also must register with the State of New Jersey.
Bulk rate garbage permits are available for purchase at City Hall. The city can no longer accept televisions.

Baseball, softball registration
Registration for the 2011 baseball and softball season has begun. The LWAYBSA offers the following divisions: T-Ball for 5 and 6 year-olds; baseball for 7 and 8 year-olds, 9 and 10 year-olds, 11 and 12 year-olds; an expanded Senior Division for 13, 14 and 15 year-old boys; softball for first and second grades, third and fourth grades, fifth and sixth grades; and a Senior Division for girls in grades seven-12. LAEF sets annual auction
The Lambertville Area Education Foundation (LAEF) will hold its 10th annual Auction and Benefit Party at the Eagle Fire Company Banquet Hall, New Hope, on March 26. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. The event will feature both a silent and a live auction, plus food and drink. Traditionally, the auction offers about 50 live auction items that sell for up to $2,200 each. This year, a Best of Live winner will walk off with his or her favorite live auction item before it is brought up for bid (tickets for this cost $50, and only 100 will be sold). Best of Live purchasers don’t have to attend the auction to win; they can buy a ticket, review descriptions of all live auction items before the event and tell the organizers which one they want. All proceeds will be used to support programs for students at Lambertville Public School, West Amwell Township Elementary School, Stockton Borough School and South Hunterdon Regional High School. Heart health screening
Hunterdon Medical Center’s Heart and Vascular Care Services will offer a Heart Health Screening and education event on Feb. 19 from 8-11 a.m. at Hunterdon Medical Center. This screening includes fasting lipid and glucose test, blood pressure, body mass index and a risk factor analysis for heart disease. Green Hill Road closed for work
Green Hill Road is closed and traffic detoured between Route 32 (River Road) and Sugan Road in Solebury Township, Bucks County, for the rehabilitation of the bridge over a tributary of the Delaware River. The bridge is expected to reopen to traffic by late March 2011. During construction, Green Hill Road through traffic will be detoured over Aquetong Road, Route 263 (Upper York Road), and Route 32 (River Road). Local access will be maintained up to the construction zone. Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the area. ACME Screening Room

This film tells the true story of how an eccentric French shopkeeper turned documentary maker attempted to locate and befriend Banksy, only to have the artist turn the camera back on its owner. Memorial tiles for meeting hall
The rear wall of the recently opened New Hope Borough meeting hall will be adorned with a tile mural. The mural will depict historic events, buildings and personalities that have defined New Hope over the past three centuries. Designed by Preston and Sharon Harrison, the work of art will consist of 600 tiles, each 6 inches square forming a mural that will be 34 feet wide by 5 feet high. Earl Bierman, chairman of the New Hope Park and Recreation Board, said the cost is $100 per tile (some of the proceeds will benefit New Hope parks). Attention: dog owners
Lambertville has an ordinance that requires all dogs to be on a lease and requires the owner of a dog to clean up its excreta. Public property includes sidewalks, parks and playgrounds, public streets and the curb. When going for a walk in the park or on any public street, remember to have a dog on a leash and be prepared to clean up. The fine for the first offense is $25 to $100. The second offense is $75 to $150, and the third offense is $150 to $500.
Animal Alliance spaying and neutering
Planned Pethood, a spaying and neutering clinic, is open every Friday and Sunday. Pricing is: All dogs regardless of size or gender, $125; female cats, $75; and male cats, $55. There are no extra charges for pregnancy or retained testicles, and no fees are added to the surgery price. All vaccines are $20, and there is no office visit charge. Animal Alliance’s Planned Pethood Clinic is offering weekly "Wellness Wednesdays" where pets can receive the same services they would get at their regular veterinarian for a fraction of the cost. No appointment is necessary for services, including heartworm testing for dogs; Feline Leukemia/FIV testing for cats; vaccinations; dewormings and microchipping. There is no office visit fee.
