Senior Citizens were treated to a special lunch on Monday as the Manville PBA held its annual luncheon for the seniors. The luncheon was held at the North End Firehouse on North Eighth Avenue.
About 60 senior citizens attended the lunch that began at noon. Officer Nickolas Franzoso the president of the PBA Local No. 236 said, “It is the senior luncheon that the PBA does and we do every year. It is something that we feel to give back to the seniors in town for what they do for us and them being a part of the community. They are a big part of our community and sometimes the seniors get overlooked and we want to make sure that they are not. We feel that this is one small thing that we can give back. This is our way of saying thank you,” he said.
A few members of the PBA also attended to show their support.
The seniors dined on all Italian food from Frank’s Pizza including lasagna, chicken parmigiana, eggplant parmigiana, ziti and salad. The PBA gets the food and sets everything up for the luncheon.
Seniors signed up through the Manville Recreation Department to attend the luncheon and a few even came right down to police headquarters to sign up to attend.
Evelyn Scrape attended and enjoyed the luncheon. “It is very good for them to give to the seniors and we appreciate it very much and we do support them. The food is delicious,” she said.
Marge Iarkowski came with Ms. Scrape and said, “The policemen did a wonderful job making a menu for us. This is wonderful.”
