It’s winter! What better time for a comforting cup of hot soup . . . or 10 or 20?
Hunterdon County Rotary Clubs will hold their fourth annual Hunterdon County Soup Cook-Off on Feb. 28 from 4:30-7:30 p.m. in the Hunterdon Central Regional High School Commons in Flemington.
Up to 25 county soup chefs will enter their favorite soups to compete for this year’s title of "Best Soup in Hunterdon County."
Soup lovers are invited to sample any and all soups for $10 and a donation of a can of food. Children 5 to 8 years old are $5 and children under 5 are free. Admission includes freshly baked rolls and cookies prepared by the Hunterdon County Polytech Culinary Arts students. All tasters will be asked to vote for their favorite soup and winners will be announced at the end of the event.
The Soup Cook-Off is sponsored this year by Shop Rite of Flemington. All cook-off proceeds will be donated to food banks in Hunterdon County communities.
The annual Rotary Soup Cook-Off is a community awareness project of the Hunterdon County Rotary Clubs in recognition of International Rotary Day on Feb. 23. The Rotary Clubs of Flemington, Clinton Sunrise, North Hunterdon, Lambertville-New Hope and Whitehouse are service clubs dedicated to helping people in the community and throughout the world.
Snow date for the event will be March 1.
