Knights to host public-speaking contest

The Knights of Pythias of New Jersey will host its annual public-speaking contest for high school students this spring.

The speak offs and finals are open to the public. This year’s topic will be “In the United States, plea bargaining undermines the criminal justice system.”

The contest will be held at several locations in New Jersey and locally at 8 p.m. May 3 at the clubhouse at the Covered Bridge retirement community located off Route 9 south in Manalapan.
