The Hispanic Business Council Scholarship Foundation of New Jersey is accepting applications for the annual scholarship and book stipend awards for current college and college-bound Hispanic students for the 2011-12 school term. The HBCSF, a nonprofit, tax-exempt organization, has a mission to advance the educational aspirations of Hispanic students to become professionals, leaders and valued citizens of the community.
Open to all New Jersey residents of Hispanic heritage, the current application can be accessed through www.hbcsf.org. Applications and all required information must be postmarked by Feb. 28. Scholarships of up to $4,000 each will be disbursed directly to the college or university of the student’s choice during the 2011-12 school term.
Interviews and the final award selection will be completed by the end of March, and the scholarships will be presented at the foundation’s 20th annual scholarship gala to be held May 12. For further information, send an email to [email protected].
Jersey Shore Business Leaders will present a seminar on “How to Own the Room — Networking for the Bold and Brave” at the monthly meeting of the Jersey Shore Business Leaders. The seminar will take place at Harrogate, 400 Locust St., Lakewood, 6-8 p.m. Feb. 23. The cost of $10 per person includes the seminar, light refreshments, and networking. Chris Ruisi, CEO and founder of The Coach’s Zone, a business and leadership coaching company, will detail how to productively network in any situation. His presentation will include how to avoid wasting time, defining what you are trying to do, controlling the conversation, and developing an action plan, among others strategies.
