In the fall 2010, Mayor Paul Anzano appointed a citizen subcommittee to study existing and potential parking issues facing Hopewell Borough residents, business owners and visitors.
The group, chaired by Councilman Bob Lewis, will prepare and present recommendations to the Borough Council and the Planning Board for possible implementation in future local ordinances and the borough Master Plan.
For the past few months, the parking subcommittee has examined present parking conditions, current traffic ordinances and other data and has tried to anticipate the impact of future economic growth on the downtown area. To continue the work of identifying parking challenges, the subcommittee is inviting the public to its next meeting to hear first-hand about specific concerns of and or ideas from community members.
The public meeting of the Hopewell Borough Parking Subcommittee will be held on Feb. 23 at 7 p.m. in the Court Room at Borough Hall, 4 Columbia Ave., Hopewell. All persons interested in borough parking matters are encouraged to attend.
Once the public session is concluded, the parking subcommittee will work on its report of findings and recommendations. It is anticipated that the final report will be completed by April 30, 2011.
