Save the date to “Walk ‘N Roll.” Enable’s third “Walk ‘N Roll” will be held 1-4 p.m. Feb. 27 at PEAC Health & Fitness in Ewing. The indoor walk is for persons with disabilities, their families and friends, volunteers and all who want to participate, according to a press release from Enable.
Enable Inc. is a nonprofit organization that serves individuals with disabilities and their families throughout central New Jersey.
Registration is free if made prior to Feb. 11. Anyone who raises $50 in pledges will receive a free long-sleeved T-shirt. Prizes will be given to the top fundraisers.
Walk ‘N Roll benefits persons with disabilities and their families, and was initiated to encourage participants to be fit and to raise funds to support services that Enable provides for people with disabilities.
Wayne Baker of Mercer County is the honorary chairperson and is an advocate working to ensure that persons with disabilities have the opportunity to live in communities instead of institutions. He has cerebral palsy and recently completed a walk from Trenton to Washington, D.C., to promote his cause.
“This year we have great entertainment to inspire our walkers,” Sharon Copeland, Enable’s executive director, said in the press release. Rider University’s dance team and step team will be performing. A local radio station will provide music and contests. The Princeton Tiger mascot for Princeton University will be making an appearance.
The event is made possible through the support of sponsors such as Bollinger Insurance Solutions, Monmouth Vans Access and Mobility Solutions, Novo Nordisk, NRG Energy Inc. and VMI.
To participate or raise pledges, register at www.enablenj.org. All proceeds from this walk support the persons with disabilities and their families served through Enable. For more information, contact Kirsten Yard at 609-987-5003, ext. 124, or by email at [email protected].
