The Zimmerli Art Museum, New Brunswick, will sponsor aMarch 3 bus trip to New York City to tour TheArmory Show, an international art fair devoted to important artworks of the 20th and 21st centuries.
Now in its 12th year, the Armory Show combines a selection of the world’s leading galleries with a program of art events and exhibitions at the fair venue and throughout New York City.
The show will present two sections, Contemporary and Modern. The Modern section features a selection of well-known galleries specializing in Modern and secondary-market material on New York City’s Pier 92, while the Contemporary section on Pier 94 continues to be a venue to premiere new works by living artists. Arrangements have been made to have docents conduct tours for the trip.
Participants will be able to visit individual booths, where many galleries and individual artists will display artwork. After the tour there will be time to visit the exhibits on one’s own. For a preview, log on to www.thear- moryshow.com.
The day will begin with lunch at Guantanamera Restaurant, which offers Cuban cuisine. The bus will depart at 10 a.m. from the museum. Approximate time of return is 5:30 p.m .
Cost, including lunch, travel, tips and the show and tours, is $90 for museum members, $110 for nonmembers.
