The West Windsor Bicycle and Pedestrian Alliance is again looking for student advisers to work with its trustees over the next 12 months.
This is a way for students to make a difference in their community while developing organizational skills, helping to plan and publicize events and learning to advocate before local government for improvements that will make our community friendlier for bicyclists and pedestrians. It’s a way for any student considering a college major in environmental sciences, engineering or political science, among other areas, to gain hands-on experience in their general area of interest.
Applicants must attend West Windsor-Plainsboro schools or live in West Windsor and attend other schools in the area or be home-schooled. The application deadline is Feb. 21.

Library seeks donations for book sale
The Friends of the West Windsor Library are gearing up for the annual Book Sale, March 1-6. The Friends are in need of donations of new or gently used books, CDs, DVDs, audio books, video/tapes and software.
Items should be taken to the library. Tax receipts are available. Volunteers are also needed to sort books.
Proceeds from the sale will fund: children’s, teen and adult programming; community events held at the library, such as the Diwali festival and the Chinese New Year celebration; summer reading program; other library enhancements, including furniture, laptop computers, seating, landscaping, as well as additions to the library’s periodical and book collections.
Most books are $1 or less, with some items marked higher. The sale includes more than 10,000 books and other items.
The hours for the sale are March 2 and 3, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.; March 4 and 5 from 10 to 5; and on March 6, from 12:30 to 4, bring a grocery bag or a box.
