A program rewarding residents for healthy eating, weight loss and exercise at the Chelsea at Manalapan has been recognized as a Program to Spotlight by the Assisted Living Federation of America (ALFA). For each healthy activity residents engage in, such as daily exercise, regular walks and healthy eating, residents earn Chelsea Dollars, which they can use to purchase items at raffles and auctions. Since the program was begun in September 2010, participating residents have either lost or stopped gaining weight, and the number of falls has dropped dramatically.
In recognizing the Chelsea Dollars program, Jamison J. Gosselin, ALFA’s senior vice president of marketing and communications, praised the Chelsea at Manalapan for “sharing best practices with our industry to improve the lives of the seniors and families across the country.”
ALFA is a national support and advocacy organization for the assisted living industry.
