SAMHAJ to host training workshops

South Asian Mental Health Awareness in Jersey (SAMHAJ) will offer volunteer training workshops on Saturday, March 5, at NAMI NJ, 1562 Route 130, North Brunswick.

“How to Become a SAMHAJ Support Group Facilitator,” 9:30 a.m. to noon. This workshop is open to any South Asian community member who has familiarity with mental health issues through their own lived experience as a family member or consumer and is interested in leading a mutual support group designed to promote self-help. This training will help the participant acquire skills to become an effective SAMHAJ support group leader.

“Contact Person Training,” 1-2 p.m. This training will help you learn skills to effectively respond to a caller who is looking for information or support for mental illness.

“Education & Outreach Volunteer Training,” 2:30-3:30 p.m. Would you like to help educate the South Asian community about mental health and earn community hours in the process? Come and find out ways you can help. (Student must be 14 years or older to be eligible).
