A 17-year-old Lawrence boy has been charged with robbery and other crimes in connection with the armed robbery of a jewelry store on Lawrence Road and police are searching for his accomplices, according to police Lt. Charles B. Edgar.
The teen and another man entered Marco’s Jewelry LLC in the 1100 block of Lawrence Road sometime after 11 a.m. and demanded money, Lt. Edgar said.
The employee, who was not harmed, gave the two robbers an undisclosed amount of cash and the robbers then fled and got into a car that was waiting around the corner on Lawn Park Avenue, Lt. Edgar said.
The teen also was charged with theft, aggravated assault for pointing a gun at the employee, unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, he said.
The teenager was taken to the Mercer County Youth Detention Center because of the seriousness of the offenses, Lt. Edgar said.
