Drop the fight, Mr. Morgan

Let us join the chorus of West Windsor officials calling to an end of legal wrangling between Councilman Charles Morgan and Mayor Shing-Fu Hsueh.
More to the point, we join those who see the number of times Mr. Morgan has taken the mayor to court as a continuation of a political battle dating back to when Mr. Morgan lost his bid to be mayor to Mr. Hsueh.
The latest suit, a dispute over whether the mayor failed to provide a report related to the budget that Mr. Morgan claims he was entitled to receive by law, has cost the taxpayers of the township almost $20,000.
Last week a Superior Court judge hearing the case decided the suit had no merit and dismissed it.
Subsequently, Mr. Morgan said he plans to file a motion to reconsider.
We say, "let it go."
Even if Mr. Morgan truly believes he is in the right, we’re dealing with relative ancient history here. The case is more than a year old.
Is it wise for one elected official to take another elected official to court, rack up $20,000 in legal bills to the town, and vow to take action that would cost taxpayers even more money?
Mr. Morgan, a lawyer who is representing himself, says the mayor "picked the fight with me when he simply ignored a request for information."
Can’t we leave the schoolyard behind us?
It would be hoped that Mr. Morgan would agree to drop the proceedings and, as Council President Kamal Khanna said, "work for the residents and community and … work with each other without resorting to litigation."
Unfortunately, Mr. Morgan has given just the opposite indication, something of which voters are surely to take notice.
