WEST WINDSOR – The WW-P African-American Parent Support Group (AAPSG) is sponsoring a number of events and programs in February to celebrate Black History Month.
On Friday, Feb. 25, , the AAPSG will sponsor our annual Black History program at WW-P High School South in the Playhouse Theatre from 7:30 to 9:15 p.m..
The event will feature keynote speaker Robin Harden-Daniels, principal of Millstone River School in Plainsboro; the WW-P High School South Lab and Studio Jazz Bands directed by Anthony Papallardo and Scott Collins; Miles Thurgood Gordon, a Community Middle School seventh-grade honor roll student will perform "Polonaise in B Flat Major" by Chopin.
An original play produced by Heidi Wachtin based on a poem by Langston Hughes will be performed by her fourth-grade class. There will also be other musical and oratory presentations by students of the WW-P School District. The WW-P School District superintendent, Victoria Kniewel, and West Windsor Mayor Shing-Fu Hsueh, Plainsboro Mayor Peter Cantu and other officials will provide remarks during the program.
On Sunday, Feb. 27, the AAPSG, the West Windsor Arts Council, the West Windsor Human Relations Council and the West Windsor Branch of Mercer County Library System, will co-sponsor a viewing followed by a discussion of a documentary by Diane Ciccone, attorney and Town Council member, on Glen Acres, a historic integrated neighborhood in West Windsor.
On Saturday, March 5, the AAPSG and the West Windsor Human Relations Council will co-sponsor a multicultural celebration of diverse performers in the arts, music, dance and oratory at WW-P High School South from 1 to 4 p.m. in the Playhouse Theatre.
