EDITORIAL: Council joins transit panel

Thumbs up to the Princeton Borough Council, which last week got on board with a joint task force to attempt to resolve the elements that might lead to a compromise between Princeton University, the township and the borough over the plan to create a $300 million Arts and Transit neighborhood.
The Princeton Township Committee had already agreed to be part of the process.
But they need to work fast. The university has already made clear that it is looking for other locations for the arts center.
If the project is to be saved at its original location, concessions will have to be made and it is clear that the university and the borough representatives will not be going into the meetings seeing eye-to-eye.
We urge both sides, all sides, to take the long view in these talks.
We urge the representatives to think and work creatively to find a way for this project to go forward.
The plan is to present a progress report in public three weeks after the initial meeting of the task force. We look forward to just that — progress.
