The Princeton Packet publishes events listings for the five communities it serves every Tuesday, as a community service. There is no charge.
Typewritten press releases must be received no later than two weeks prior to the date you would like to see your news in print. E-mail submission is preferred.
Releases must include time, date, location, full street addresses and admission fee, if applicable. Releases must also include a phone number by which the public can contact your organization.
Releases should be written out in narrative form. Smart folks provide newspapers with ready-to-go material, written up in the form such material appears in print. In other words, fliers and brochures will not receive priority, nor will handwritten materials.

Engaged Retirement: Financial questions, travel, coping with caregiving, and searching for jobs are the topics to be tackled at this spring’s Engaged Retirement talks, being held at Princeton Public Library starting March 8. Programs are at 7 p.m. in the library’s Conference Room. At the opening program Eleanore Szymanski’s talk is "Getting Nagging Financial Questions Answered." PSO Soundtracks: The Princeton Symphony Orchestra’s PSO Soundtracks at Princeton Public Library continues at 7:30 p.m. with an appearance by Jayn Rosenfeld, the orchestra’s principal flutist. The lecture is titled "Playing in Circles: The Orchestral Musicians’ Experience." Ms. Rosenfeld will discuss the emotional and technical experience of being an orchestral musician The audience will be invited to become part of these "circles," through interspersed musical activities. No instrument is necessary.In addition to her duties with the Princeton Symphony Orchestra, Ms. Rosenfeld is a member of several other musical ensembles. History Detectives: The History Detectives Book Club, for children ages 9-12, begins March 9, from 10 a.m. to noon. The children will spend four afternoons at the Updike Farmstead, reading a work of historical fiction together and learning about events in history. The program is a four-part series to be held on the following Wednesdays: March 9, March 16, March 23 and March 30. Cost is $75 per child (for four sessions); or $60 for HSP members. Einstein Tour: A curator’s tour of Einstein at Home will be held from 4 to 5 p.m. at the Historical Society of Princeton, Bainbridge House, 158 Nassau St. A special exhibition featuring selected pieces of furniture from the Einstein Collection of the Historical Society of Princeton. Through these rarely-seen objects, visitors will have the chance to glimpse the personal side of this world-famous scientist. Tour is free to the public. Space is limited to 20 people. Luke Elliot and his Band: Perform at 8 p.m. at the Arts Council of Princeton’s Paul Robeson Center, 102 Witherspoon St., Princeotn. Brown Bag Discussion: Princeton Senior Resource Center will host a Brown Bag discussion on "Osteoporosis: the Silent Crippler" at noon, in the Suzanne Patterson Building, 45 Stockton St. In the United States today, out of the 10 million people who suffer from osteoporosis, 8 million are women, and one out of every six women will suffer a hip fracture during her lifetime. Dr Gabriel Smolarz, of the Princeton Medical Group, will discuss the most current information on the nature, causes, prevention, and treatment options of osteoporosis. He will answer questions regarding the controversies surrounding the use of medications that slow the loss of bone mass like Actonel and Fosamax. Bring a own lunch. St. Patrick’s Day Party: Dance the night away on at the Princeton Elks St. Patty’s Day Party! Children’s Birthday Celebration at the Historical Society of Princeton: From 10 to 11 a.m. HSP, 158 Nassau St., Princeton will celebrate Albert Einstein’s birthday with some of Einstein’s puzzle games, memorabilia, photographs, and other personal belongings on view, and kids will learn about Einstein’s scientific discoveries as well as his efforts to fight racism and foster world peace.
