SOMERVILLE The public invited to a meeting on Route 22 corridor improvements at 9 a.m. Saturday, March 19, in the first-floor conference room at 27 Warren St.
In a two-hour interactive design session, attendees can help identify potential improvements to Route 22 in Bridgewater between the Route 202/206 and Interstate 287 interchanges.
This section of Route 22 carries about 88,000 vehicles a day and reports about 270 crashes per year. Some sections experience crash rates five times the statewide average for similar facilities.
A project Web site www.route22corridor.info provides a place where residents can gain information on the progress of the study, be kept informed about upcoming events and provide feedback to the project team.
Parking is available in the municipal parking deck off Veterans Memorial Drive.
The project is being administered by Somerset County with funding provided by the Federal Highway Administration and the state Department of Transportation. The study is expected to be completed by March 2012.
