Dukes to tell town about their program

March 10 – Tonight from 7-9 p.m. in the gym of the YMCA on East Mountain Road, the Hillsborough Dukes will host an open house for the community to learn about their program. Football and cheer coaches will be on hand to answer questions, and there will be fun activities for kids, like tossing around footballs, teaching of sideline cheers and mats for tumbling.
Jr. Raiders signups for football, cheering
March 11, 12 – Junior Raiders football and cheerleader registration will take place Friday from 6-9 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m.-noon. Complete the online portion of the registration before coming to the municipal building. Instructions are on the Web site www.jrraiders.org.
If possible, bring an item or two for the Hillsborough Food Pantry. Especially needed are shampoo, conditioner, deodorant and bar soap.
Firehouse fish buffet
Friday, March 11 – Hillsborough Volunteer Fire Co. 3 will hold its annual all-you-can-eat fish buffet from 4:30 to 8 p.m. at the fire house on Woods Road. The cost is $11 for adults, $10 for seniors (60 and older), $9 for children 5-12 years old, and children under 4 free. Dinner includes baked tilapia, fried cod fish, fried clams, fried shrimp, chicken fingers, pierogies, vegetable medley, French fries, rice, homemade coleslaw, salad, desserts and beverages. High schoolers to stage ‘Phantom’
March 11-13, 18-19 – Hillsborough High School Musical presents "The Phantom of the Opera" in the auditorium of the school, 466 Raider Blvd., at 7 p.m. on March 11, 12, 18, and 19, and 1 p.m. on March 13 and 19. Admission: $10. Tickets can be purchased at the door, by calling 908-431-6600, ext. 2099, or visiting the school box office on Feb. 26 from noon to 6 p.m., and March 1-3 and 7-10 from 6 to 9 p.m.
Corned beef, cabbage dinner
Saturday, March 12 – A corned beef and cabbage dinner and bake sale will be held at South Branch Reformed Church, 870 River Road, from 4:30-7 p.m. A kids’ menu of hot dogs and macaroni and cheese will be available. Adults $12, children 6 to 12 $5, and children 5 and under are free. For reservations (not required) call 908-369-4956. Take-outs available.

Saturday, March 19 – Vendors are needed for the market to be held by the Hillsborough Volunteer Fire Co. 1 Ladies Auxiliary from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the township municipal building. For reservations, call Gail at 908-369-4811.
Basket auction
Friday, March 25 – Triangle Elementary Home and School Association will host their Spring Fiesta basket auction at Manville VFW Hall, 600 Washington Ave. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and drawing starts at 8. Fashion show benefit
Saturday, March 26 – Project Graduation will sponsor a fashion show at 7:30 p.m. at the high school. Tickets are $12 for adults, $8 for students and may be purchased at the door, through a model or by calling Doreen at 295-2510.
Casino night
Saturday, April 9 – The Hillsborough Band Parents Association will hold a casino night at the American Legion Hall, 232 Union Ave., Somerville. Doors open at 6 p.m. and games begin at 7.
Tickets will be sold at the door. Advanced tickets can be bought online at www.hhs-band.org or by e-mailing [email protected]. Tickets at $40 each include food, soft drinks and $60 in chips. Since a cash bar will be available, courtesy of the American Legion, you must be 21 and older to attend.
Grand prize will be a 64 GB iPad with Wi-Fi & 3G. Proceeds support the school band and guard programs.
Continuing events
Alzheimer’s support group – The Alzheimer’s Association has a newly formed support group in Hillsborough. Family members and caregivers come together to share information and support in a safe and confidential atmosphere.
Meetings are the second Wednesday of each month at 1 p.m. in the sunroom at Emeritus Senior Living, 600 Auten Road, Hillsborough. All are welcome. Call 431-1300 if attending.
