Hillsborough’s Senior Citizen Activity Center and Senior Chapter B club received a ceremonial check at Tuesday’s Township Committee meeting from Affinity Federal Credit Union and the township’s Credit Card Advisory Committee.
The senior center will use its $200 to buy a Wii video game system for fitness purposes. Chapter B will spend its $400 buy a wheeled cart and microphone for use at monthly meetings.
The township benefits from residents who choose to use a special credit card.
”There was enough funding generated by the program to grant requests from additional non-profit organizations, so tonight we are proud to offer the rewards,” said Deputy Mayor Carl Suraci, liaison to the Credit Card Advisory Committee.
Each group completed the application process last summer.
”We review each of the grant requests and make a determination based on how the funds will be used,” said Toni Natale, member of the Credit Card Advisory Committee, in a press release. “It is a difficult decision because all of the organizations are worthy of the funding.”
