Library hosts activities for young and old

Hillsborough’s public library offers diverse activities for young and old.
Here are upcoming programs intended for adults:
– Evening movie – ‘The Next Three Days.’ Friday, March 11, 7 p.m.
Magical and Medicinal Legend and Lore of Herbs and Spices – Learn the magical and medicinal legend and lore of herbs and spices with Kathryn Weidener. Participants will be able to feel, taste and smell samples. Monday, March 14 at 7 p.m.
Seasons in the West Wing – Seasons is a sibling harp and hammered dulcimer trio will bring us to another place and time with their beautiful sounds. They will perform holiday classics and selections from their CD, "Which Way to Dublin Town." Tuesday, March 15, at 7 p.m.
– Have Fun with Chinese Characters – Jeanette will explain how the characters are formed and how the strokes are used. Try your hand at writing the characters yourself. Saturday, March 19, at 2 p.m.
– Parent/Teacher Workshop – This workshop presents strategies and materials that child care workers, educators and parents can use to help kids navigate the rough terrain of childhood social relationships. Monday, March 21, at 7 p.m.
Ladies ESL Conversation Group – Monday, March 21, at 7 p.m.
Afternoon Movie – ‘Morning Glory,’ Tuesday, March 22, at 1:30 p.m.
Here are programs targeted at youngsters. Registration is required for all programs.:
– First Look Books (grades 6-12) – Get a sneak peek at upcoming teen titles before they hit the shelves. Monday, March 14, at 5 p.m.
– Afterschool science (grades 3-5) – Join us for some hands-on science fun. Tuesday, March 15, at 4:30 p.m.
– Neshanic Garden Club (grades 2-5) – Join the members of the Neshanic Garden Club and create something fun. Wednesday, March 16, at 4 p.m.
– Science for 4’s, 5’s and 6’s – Join us for stories and hands-on activities as you and your child explore science concepts together. Thursday, March 17, at 10 a.m.
– Afternoon Stories (ages 2-6) – A fun family storytime. Monday, March 21, at 1 p.m.
– Reading Buddy (grades 2-4) – Your child will increase their love of reading while reading aloud with our Hillsborough High School intern. Monday, March 21, 3:30 p.m.
– Toddler Time (ages 2-6) – Introduce the pleasure of books to your child. Tuesday, March 22, at 10 a.m.
– Rhyme Time (newborn to 2 1/2) – Join us for nursery rhyme fun. Tuesday, March 22, at 10:30 a.m.
– Math (ages 4-6) – Stop by for some stories and activities that will get math brains working. Thursday, March 24, at 10 a.m.
– Anime Club (grades 8-12) – Hang out with your friends as we watch anime, make candy sushi and discuss the latest manga. Thursday, March 24, at 5 p.m.
– Singing Babies (newborn to 2) – Start your little one on the road to a lifetime love of music making. Friday, March 25, at 10 a.m.
