Roosevelt parents were able to come to school this week for the PTA’s Take Your Family to School Week.
The National PTA encourages local PTAs to have the families come in for activities and events during the national week Feb.13-17 for family engagement and parent involvement.
Roosevelt PTA held Muffins with Mom on Tuesday morning before school started when the moms came in for breakfast with the children.
Wednesday gave the dads a chance for Donuts with Dad to spend time before school with them, also.
”It is a great opportunity to invite the families to come into the school. We know it is so hard for the working parents to come in the morning and get to see the school and become part of our community,” said Amy Van Buren PTA president.
Grandparents had their own special day Friday for the Grandparents luncheon. The all-purpose room tables were decorated with flowers and a buffet dinner from the PTA gave the grandparents time to see where their grandchildren have their lunch.
Sandy Moschak came to spend lunch with her granddaughter, Skylar Lukac.
”I really enjoy these luncheons at the school has and I love my granddaughter. I enjoy when they have these luncheons because I enjoy coming here with her and we have such a good time,” she said.
The grandparents and students dined on salad, ziti, chicken Joe, kielbasa and kraut, roasted potatoes, chicken fingers and macaroni and cheese. The lunch was catered by Alfredo’s on Camplain Road.
Ms.Van Buren said over 70 family members came in between the two lunches of fourth and fifth graders.
”The grandparents and their grandchildren sit and enjoy a nice catered lunch. It is our appreciation to them for being involved with such great kids and it is an event we do every year and everyone looks forward to it,” she said.
