The Lawrence Lightning Swim Team improved to 3-0 with a recent win over the Montgomery Marlins at Lawrence High School.
The day started with the boys and girls individual medleys. Anya Fitzgerald (1:52.12) led the girl’s 10/under age group followed by Isabella Mus and Samantha Markiewicz. Andrew Sukach (1:50.55) led the 10/under boys with great races by Ryan Sargent and Robert Lynch.
Emma Campisi and Natalie Jesseman were 1-2 for the 12/under girls while Jack Heinzel (1:37.47), Anthony Weiss and Borys Kindatyshy put in excellent performances for the boys. Sara Webber (1:33.27), Maya Gwynn and Anne Kluempen all had spectacular races in the 15/under girls’ event followed by Billy McBride and Matthew Miloszar in the boy’s event.
In freestyle, 6/unders, Eliza Meth (26.22) and Samantha Gunton took 1-2 while the 6/under boy’s event was dominated by Grisham Varirani (27.95), Matthew Smith, Ford Collins and Andrew Lynch. Abigail Danko (19.13) placed first for the 8/under girls with great races by Kathryn Yonan and Abigail Duff. In the 8/under boys races, Lightning swimmers Jack Collins, Andrew Tziarris-Over and Matthew DeMott placed 1-2-3.
Bella D’Ascoli (18.25), Francesca Iucolino, Vicki Wengler and Lucia Zeimet dominated the 10/under girl’s event with a 1-2 finish coming from Hutch Collins and Lucas Gwynn for the 10/under boys. In the 12/under 50 freestyle, Natalie Campisi (36.15) and Abigail Bergstrom led the way, while for the boys Patryk Wojnar and William Chandler finished 1-2. Asia Wirkijowski (35.02), Cecily Zecca-Naples and Daryl Hoehne swam a superb race in the 15 & under girls, with excellent performances by Justin Thomas and Matthew Heebner for the boys.
The breaststroke saw 8/under girls Moriah Eley and Elizabeth Chandler have impressive races followed by Will Yuchmow and Matthew DeMott for the boys. Angelina Franceschini (24.20), Anya Fitzgerald and Maria Tkacz took the top three places in the girls 10/ under race with Alexander Sukach, Devon Meth and Jonathan Lessiohadi following suit for the 10/under boys.
Abby Smith (48.48), Emma Campisi and Natalie Campisi had terrific performances in the 12/under age group while Louis Augeri (48.93) secured a win for the boys. Sara Webber (50.22), Maya Gwynn, Dara Levinsky and Anne Kluempen had standout performances in the 15/under age group, with a 1-2 finish by Teddy Boronkay (48.91) and Matthew Miloszar in the boy’s event.
In the backstroke, Eliza Meth (35.47) and Matthew Smith (31.51) won the 6/under events. Abigail Duff and Elizabeth Chandler swam great races for the 8/under girls. Will Yuchmow (26.43) won the boys’ 10/under event with strong finishes by Samuel Yonan and Danny DeLongaig. Francesca Iucolino, Molly Hart and Isabelle Lovvoll had impressive races in the 10/under girl’s backstroke while Alexander Sukach (19.10) won the 10/under boys with, great swims also by Andrew Sukach and Zeke D’Ascoli.
The 12/under girl’s event was dominated by Lightning with leaders Abby Smith (43.25), Kristen Heinzel, Savannah Seraphim and Grace Denarski. The 12/under boys’ race featured a 1-2 finish by Louis Augeri (44.10) and Jack Heinzel. Isabella Franceschini (43.38) took first in the 15/under girls’ event with great races by Asia Wirkijowski and Cecily Zecca-Naples. Justin Thomas (43.92) and Billy McBride took 1-2 in the 15/under boys’ event.
In the butterfly events, 8/under girls Abigail Danko (23.34) and Moriah Eley had a 1-2 finish, with Jack Collins (23.83), Daniel Bhavsar and Jacob Stout going 1-2-3 for the boys. Angelina Franceschini (19.65) led in the girls 10/under event with strong swims by Samantha Campisi and Molly Hart. The 10/under boys dominated their event led by Alexander Sukach (17.46), Hutch Collins, Jonathan Lessiohadi and Joseph Madigan.
Kristen Heinzel (46.90) and Katelyn Takacs placed 1-2 for the 12/under girls while Patryk Wojnar (44.49) and Noah Levinsky did the same for the boys. Finishing the meet’s individual races were impressive swims by 15/unders Isabella Franceschini (44.49), Klaudia Karwowski and Dara Levinsky for the girls and Teddy Boronkay for the boys.
The Lightning clinched the victory with some outstanding freestyle relay efforts.
