PRINCETON: Fire Department gets $361,500 grant

The Princeton Fire Department has been awarded $361,500 in federal funding from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security to help recruit and hire new firefighters, according to a press release from U.S. Rep. Rush Holt’s office.
The department applied for the grant through Homeland Security’s Assistance to Firefighters Grants program and specifically the Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER).
”I am always pleased to see local first responders obtain the funding they need to serve our communities, and am glad to see the Princeton Fire Department receive this funding,” said Holt.
The SAFER awards are intended to support the hiring of firefighters and the recruitment and retention of volunteer firefighters.
