MONROE – For more than 100 years, the New Jersey State Federation of Womens Clubs of GFWC has sponsored a Public Issues Day.
Over the years, members have been briefed on a variety of legislative concerns impacting women and their families.
This year’s event will be held March 21 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel with more than 200 women in attendance from federated clubs from across the state.
Judith Ambrus, of Bridgewater, NJSFWC public issues chairman, said the theme of the day will be "Honoring Women in the Military."
Clubwomen who have served in various capacities in the military will be honored. Those who know a woman they would like to be honored at this event may contact NJSFWC President Patty Whitehouse at [email protected] or Ms. Ambrus at [email protected].
There will be a variety of speakers, including representatives from the Women in Military Service for American Memorial Foundation, the USO and the Veterans Administration. In addition, members of the New Jersey Legislature also have been invited to share with attendees what New Jersey is doing to support the military and veterans.
Ms. Whitehouse, of Gladstone, has announced the General Federation of Womens Clubs International President Carlene A. Garner will be in attendance.
This event will begin at 10 a.m. The price is $39.50.
Additional information and a registration form can be found at www.njsfwc.org or by calling 732-249-5474.
The New Jersey State Federation of Womens Clubs of GFWC was founded in 1894 and has been headquartered on the Douglass Residential Campus, formerly Douglass College, in New Brunswick since 1966.
The federation is a member of the General Federation of Womens Clubs, a nonpartisan, nondenominational women’s volunteer service organization.
Opportunities are provided to women in education, leadership training and community service through participation in local clubs, enabling members to make a difference in the lives of others, one project at a time.
