Blame the Legislature
Chris BEnson, Columbus
The state Legislature is responsible for the fiscal mess our state is in, not public employees. The legislators, along with numerous governors, have not made payments into the pension fund for over a decade. Taxpaying public workers have paid into the pension fund. They have not skipped any payments. The bill is overdue. Why all the surprise and outrage from the governor and others? What did he and they think would happen with an unpaid bill?
The Legislature needs to quit playing the blame game and focus on making New Jersey a better place for everyone to live in and prosper. Our elected officials must stop saying “I can’t, I can’t” and produce results, not make excuses. We elect our officials to take care of our state so that it is a good place for our families to live in and a better place for our children and grandchildren.
Stop hammering wedges between the taxpayers of New Jersey. The energy needs to be concentrated on making sure that everyone has a job that pays a living wage and has a secure retirement plan, so that everyone can live and prosper in this state.
The solution must bring all the people up to the same level, not destroy middle class workers and their families, the pledge of allegiance to the flag states “justice for all,” not justice for some.
