Sunday, March 20 – The Beth El Synagogue of East Windsor Werner Lecture Fund presents "Jewish Humor and the Movies" at 3 p.m.
Rafi Reguer, a stand-up comedian for the past 20 years, will host a discussion and viewing of the movie "A Day at the Races," featuring the Marx Brothers.
Admission is $3 per person and refreshments will be served.

Democratic Club meeting
Thursday, March 24 – The Hightstown Democratic Club will hold its reorganization meeting at 7:30 p.m. at the Hightstown First Aid Squad banquet hall, 168 Bank St. This is an opportunity to meet the candidates running in the June primary, and to give input on their platform.
‘Filled-basket bingo’
Friday, March 25 – The Ladies Auxiliary of Hightstown Engine Company No. will sponsor "filled-basket bingo" at the Hightstown Fire Company Banquet Hall (handicap friendly), 140 N. Main St. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. and the bingo will start at 7:30. (Must be 18 to attend, photo ID required.)
What is filled-basket bingo? Rather than monetary prizes, winners will be awarded temed bskets filled with merchandise related to the theme of the basket.

Parent workshop
Thursday, March 31 – The Hightstown East Windsor Special Education Parent Advisory Group is sponsoring a parent workshop, "Preparing for Your Child’s Annual IEP Planning Meeting" at 7 p.m. in the Kreps Middle School Auditorium.
To learn more about the group, take part in informal parent networking starting at 6:30 p.m.
Environmental fair
Saturday, April 2 – An environmental fair will be held from 9 a.m. to noon in St. Anthony’s gym, 156 Maxwell Ave., Hightstown. Explore exhibits and watch a puppet show performed by Rainbow the Clown and Mr. T.
Students from Hightstown High School and The Peddie School along with parishioners and the Hightstown Environmental Commission will be among the groups exhibiting ways to help the environment.
Gardening techniques, Earth-friendly cleaning products. worm farms, composting, solar power information, water conservation techniques and ways to recycle will be among the displays. Admission is free.
‘The All-Stars of David’
Sunday, April 3 – Who are the greatest Jewish athletes of all time? Who’s the most important? Is that guy really Jewish?
Join Sports Illustrated senior editor Dick Friedman for a sporting discussion at 10:30 a.m. at Chabad of the Windsors, 1300 Windsor Road, West Windsor.

Library book sale
Saturday, April 9 – The Friends of the Hickory Corner Library Inc. will hold their one-day spring book sale from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the library at 138 Hickory Corner Road, East Windsor.
Adult hardcover books are $1.50, paperbacks are 50 cents to $1. Young adult and children’s hardcover books are two for $1, and paperbacks three for $1. There also will be some special books priced individually.
Proceeds are used to purchase new materials for the library and provide special programs for adults and children, including the Summer Reading Program.

Continuing events
Fish Frydays – Hightstown Elks Lodge located at 110 Hickory Corner Road in East Windsor is running its famous Lenten Fish Frydays again.
Cost is $10 for adults, $9 for seniors and $5 for kids ages 5 to 10. Menu includes, fish, french fries or pasta, salad, bread, soda, coffee and dessert. Every Friday from March 11 through April 22, from 6 to 8 p.m.

"Mulch Madness" – Hightstown Elks Lodge #1955 (www.elks1955.org) is running a mulch drive. The Elks will deliver bags of mulch to your driveway for the price you pay at the store. Choice of raven black, cherry brown, red or cedar mulch in 2-cubic-foot bags.
Delivered to your driveway April 16 or 17. $5 a bag, includes sales tax. Make checks payable to Hightstown Elks #1955. Place your order with payment by April 1.

Book donations sought – The Friends of the Hickory Corner Library Inc. is seeking donations of new or gently used adult and children’s books and media (DVDs, CDs, AudioBooks, etc.) for its one-day spring book sale scheduled for Saturday, April 9.
Proceeds are used to purchase new materials for the library and provide special programs for adults and children, including the Summer Reading Program.
The Friends of the Hickory Corner Library Inc. is a registered nonprofit organization, and donations are eligible for tax deductions. Note that all donations must be brought into the library and presented at the desk. Do not leave them outside or in the book drop since anonymous donations will not be accepted.
The Hickory Corner Library, a branch of the Mercer County Library System, is located at 138 Hickory Corner Road, East Windsor.
Community suppers – The third Saturday of each month, a free hot meal is offered to all who attend. The event is held at the First Baptist Church, 125 Main St., Hightstown.
Volunteers are always welcome, and donations are appreciated to support the purchase of food and supplies. Cash or gift cards (ShopRite, Super Fresh, McCaffrey’s, Wegman’s, Walmart, Target, BJ’s) are helpful.
A food pantry also has been established so donations of nonperishable food (peanut butter, jelly, soups, cereals and canned tuna) also are needed.

Senior study – First United Methodist Church of Hightstown will hold a senior adult Bible study with Pastor Heidi Bak at 10 a.m. every first and third Thursday at the church, 187 Stockton St. Call the church office at 448-0041 for more information.
Help for MOMS – The MOMS Club of East Windsor/Hightstown is a support group for at-home moms.
The East chapter is for moms who live east of Route 130 and generally meets the second Monday of every month at 10 a.m. at Twin Rivers Library.
The West chapter is for moms who live west of Route 130 and generally meets the first Tuesday of every month at 10 a.m. at Hickory Corner Library.
The groups offer a range of activities, including playgroups for children, park play days, day trips, arts and crafts, and get-togethers for the entire family.

Kosher Cafe – The Jewish Family & Children’s Service of Greater Mercer County presents the Kosher Cafe East program at 12:30 p.m. the second Wednesday of each month at the Beth El Synagogue, 50 Maple Stream Road, East Windsor.
The cost is $5 per person, and the community is invited. A hot kosher meal and more is provided. RSVP to Julie Feibush, director of senior services at JFCS, at 987-8100, to make a reservation.
Bible study and lunch – The public is invited to attend Bible study and lunch every Thursday morning at 11 a.m. at 183 East Ward St, Hightstown. For more information, call Jane at 609-235-6139.
Kosher Meals on Wheels – The Jewish Family & Children’s Service of Greater Mercer County offers a Kosher Meals on Wheels program to individuals age 60 and older and to individuals of any age with disabilities, who cannot shop for and/or prepare their own meals.
Up to five hot kosher meals a week are delivered directly to the individual’s home at a cost of $5 per meal. Scholarships are available.
