Winterguard wins at record level
The Hillsborough High School Winterguard, under the direction of guard director Joe Dobis, has had a phenomenal start to the 2011 season, setting it up to be the best year ever.
It has placed first in three of their four competitions and third in the other. In addition they were the Scholastic A silver medalists at the Pittsburgh WGI Regionals in February and bronze medalists at the South Brunswick WGI Regionals in March.
Later this month they will compete in the two-day WGI Eastern Colorguard Championships at the University of Rhode Island.
The Winterguard season continues until MAIN Championships on April 16 in South Brunswick. A full listing of all competition dates can be found at www.hhs-band.org. Having a good crowd of cheering supporters in the stands is always appreciated and helps to improve performance, say organizers.
The guard will be enrolling new members for the 2011 marching band season in April. Students in grade eight through 12 are welcome. For information, contact [email protected] or [email protected].
