Springfield Township is proud to announce its 10th annual Pride in Springfield Day. This day is a community effort to clean up litter that has accumulated on the streets and fields of our township. Adults, teens and children are encouraged to get involved in serving the community on April 16 (rain date, April 23). Volunteers will meet at the Springfield Township Municipal Building at 8:30 a.m. to receive cleanup assignments and free protective supplies. Lunch will be served to all participants beginning at 11:30. It’s a great way to serve our community and meet your neighbors and fellow township residents. All are encouraged to attend. Springfield Recreation Committee meeting is April 14 beginning at 7:30 p.m. in the Municipal Building. Recreation has scheduled an adult pickup basketball game on Friday night from 8 to 10 in the school gymnasium. The Springfield Township School District is currently inviting all residents with or without school-age children to register to receive information on varied topics regarding the school events, board member campaigns, proposed budget votes and future options for the district as well as informative topics regarding the school. Please visit www.sprinfieldschool.org and click on the link "Community Please Register." Then click the "Sign Up" tab to complete the necessary information. Once registered, residents will be included as part of a community group that will receive many of the school’s future notifications.
The Springfield/Mansfield Senior Citizens organization will meet on Tuesday, April 5 and 19. The group meets every second and fourth Tuesday of the month at the Jacksonville Community Center. The Springfield Township Republican Club’s next scheduled meeting is tonight, Thursday March 24, at 7:30 p.m. at the Garden State Diner located at the intersection of routes 537 and 545. A social hour will follow the business meeting. Those wishing to join the club are welcome to attend. Meetings are held on the fourth Thursday of each month.
Are you caring for feral cats? If so there is a program to help you and the community. The feral cat program has been established to increase the health of feral cats, decreasing the spread of disease through medical care and vaccines. The program also assists in reducing the population of feral cats through neutering. The program is free to feral cat caregivers; please contact Peter Sobotka at (609) 723-0269 for additional information.
The Council for Affordable Housing meeting is March 28 at 8 p.m. in the Municipal Building.
The Springfield Township School District has scheduled a public hearing of the proposed 2011-2012 school budget. The meeting is March 29 and begins at 7 p.m. at the Springfield Elementary School.
Springfield Township Home and School Association’s family fun bowling night is April 9 from 6 to 9 p.m. at Thunderbird lanes in Wrightstown. Ticket price is $5 per individual, shoe rental included. Please contact Sue Hentnik by April 1.
Enjoy a great morning of community fun in a casual setting and meet your neighbors at the Jacksonville Community Center Breakfast. The "All You Can Eat" breakfast consists of bacon, sausage, pork roll, eggs, pancakes, fried potatoes, juice, coffee and tea. The breakfast is on Sunday, April 3 from 7:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Jacksonville Community Center on Jacksonville Road. The price is $7 for adults and $4 for children.
