The YWCA Princeton is the latest organization to take advantage of a free training program provided by the Center for Training and Development at Mercer County Community College in West Windsor.
Now in its fourth year, the program is made possible through a grant from the New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development in partnership with the New Jersey Business & Industry Association and the Community College Consortium.
According to instructor Robert Usdin, MCCC’s mobile computer lab is equipped with 15 laptops that are getting steady use as word about the program spreads.
"We bring them to the work site, set them up and we’re ready to go," Usdin says.
For the YWCA Princeton, the training has been beneficial as the organization transitions to Microsoft Office 2010.
"This is such a great opportunity for us. MCCC did an outstanding job of making employees at all levels feel comfortable and empowered. Our staff is enthusiastic about the chance to learn new technologies and to be better able to create outstanding results as an organization and for our members," said Margaret Coppola, the YWCA Princeton’s chief financial officer.
Businesses or individuals interested in training should contact Michael Glass, MCCC director of statewide training, at 609-570-3530, or e-mail [email protected].
Pediatricians, health plans
The Pediatric Group on Mt. Lucas Road in Princeton recently announced it will now be accepting all major health insurance plans.
Louis Tesoro, MD, a senior member of The Pediatric Group and in his 22nd year of practice, states "Our practice is guided by a commitment to offering pediatric service that is compassionate, accessible and reliable. Although we realize that health insurance may put some constraints on us, we plan to maintain our priorities as a practice. We feel that the positives of being available to more people far outweigh any negatives."
The Pediatric Group is private and physician owned. Many of the physicians have been at the practice for more than 20 years. The most senior member and president, John Cotton, MD, joined the group in 1978.
"With the economy the way it is, this has been a difficult time for many of my patients. I’m thrilled to be able to welcome new patients while still serving the needs of our loyal families," he said.
Another change at the practice is that it will be accepting credit cards.
"It’s all about assessing how we can be more convenient to the modern family," says Dr. Helen Rose. "We have also focused on providing a more readable and patient friendly website."
