Hillsborough Township offers residents the chance to dump hard-to-dispose items.
But you have to plan ahead and nail down an appointment to take your stuff to the public works site on Auten Road.
There are 12 disposal dates – the first and last Saturdays from May through October, 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., rain or shine. Only 150 people will be assigned each day and you need to show a coupon, which you can get for free on a first-come, first-serve basis.
In the first two days of the signup on Monday and Tuesday, more than 220 people have secured coupons, said a Department of Public Works employee.
Clean-up day allow residents the opportunity to dispose of old furniture, toys, rugs, appliances, bicycles, yard clean-up, hot water tanks, old furnaces, etc.
Coupons will be available until April 29 only at the DPW at 21 East Mountain Road, next door to the YMCA, from Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m.
You must show proof of residency and present the registration of the vehicle to be used to receive a coupon.
The dump is adjacent to the railroad tracks on Auten Road, north of Triangle Road.
Senior citizens (65 and older) can have material picked up at their home, but still need a coupon. They need to present proof of age.
