A 21-year-old injured Monroe Township Marine will benefit from more than $10,000 raised throughout February and March at the Alchemist & Barrister.
The Witherspoon Street pub recently wrapped up its annual St. Patrick’s Day Longbeard contest and collected $10,525 for the Colin Pasick Road to Recovery Fund, which supports the Marine who lost his legs to an improvised explosive device in Afghanistan in April 2009. He is at Walter Reed Medical Center in Washington, D.C., learning how to use his prosthetic legs.
This is the most money the restaurant has raised in more than 30 years, said Kim Manning, manager.
In addition to contest entries, borough and township police departments and elected officials “celebrity bartended” throughout the month to raise awareness for the young man.
